YDreams to build Arkave VR arena in Brazilian mall

2017-09-28 06:30 ET – News Release

Mr. Daniel Japiassu reports

YDREAMS GLOBAL SIGNS FIRST ARKAVE VR GAMING ARENA CONTRACT WITH ONE OF THE LARGEST SHOPPING MALLS IN LATIN AMERICA

YDreams Global Interactive Technologies Inc. has been commissioned to assemble its first Arkave virtual reality gaming arena in Parque Dom Pedro, one of the largest shopping malls in Latin America. The contract has been signed with the Sonae Sierra Group, an European multinational that owns and operates 48 malls in Europe and South America. Its Brazilian branch has 10 shopping malls and is listed on the mainstream Brazilian stock market with a valuation of over $2.1-billion (U.S.).

The first Arkave arena will be inaugurated in a ceremony that will be attended by Sonae Sierras key executives and local authorities. The Parque Dom Pedro mall has maintained an average of 1.7 million visits per month since its opening in 2002. Daniel Japiassu, YDreams Global’s chief executive officer, considers it a key location to boost Arkave’s popularity and visibility. “Our goal is to transform Arkave into one of the fastest-growing and most successful VR gaming franchises in the Americas. This first location will be our showcase. We are hopeful that we can scale out this model and generate recurring revenues. Considering this group controls 47 other locations, we are optimistic regarding the future growth potential from our first partnership,” said Mr. Japiassu.

This first Arkave unit is housed in a 300-square-metre area (the equivalent of 3,230 square feet), with eight VR gaming arenas, of which five are for individual players and three are for trios. Each of the arenas covers 28 square metres (seven m by four m) and offers facilities that allow 14 gamers to play simultaneously with wireless VR sets. “The anticipated cost will be approximately $1 per minute per player. The labour cost is lower in Latin America therefore profit margins per location would benefit. We are looking forward to what the Arkave franchise may mean as a growth driver for YDreams for many years to come, with a very scalable model using our proprietary technology to drive the VR experience. This is a transformative day in the history of YDreams.”

The continuing marketing efforts to sell the new Arkave arena units includes a road show of showcases that have been displayed at events during the last two months such as the CVR Vancouver, Future of Immersive Leisure in Las Vegas, Hyper VR festival in Sao Paulo and at the Latam Retail show, the largest retail fair in the region.

Mr. Japiassu said: “The next step for Arkave is to continue the negotiations regarding Arkave’s global expansion for several markets in early 2018. Efforts put into the road shows resulted in lots of interest on the part of investors and arcade owners looking for a new attraction for their VR spaces. Several negotiations are under way for gaming arenas in North America, Mexico and South America.”

Arkave is the second start-up to work under the Venture Builder banner, a division YDreams Global opened in 2016, with the aim of exploring, building and scaling up outstanding products of industries such as VR, augmented reality, IoT (Internet of things) and AI (artificial intelligence) for global audiences.
